Les plaines, les vall\u00e9es douces, les arbres isol\u00e9s et les horizons ouverts offrent un terrain propice \u00e0 l\u2019observation des variations de lumi\u00e8re et d\u2019atmosph\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1280\" data-end=\"1667\">Dans ces toiles, le motif reste simple : champs, chemins, bosquets ou paysages l\u00e9g\u00e8rement vallonn\u00e9s. L\u2019artiste ne cherche pas le spectaculaire mais l\u2019\u00e9quilibre des formes et la justesse des tons. L\u2019\u0153uvre est mentionn\u00e9e dans la liste chronologique des tableaux et a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e au <strong data-start=\"423\" data-end=\"479\">Salon de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nationale des Beaux-Arts en 1897<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Le tableau, de grand format (170 \u00d7 140 cm), appartient aujourd\u2019hui aux collections du <strong data-start=\"608\" data-end=\"638\">mus\u00e9e Saint-Denis de Reims<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"681\" data-end=\"1076\">Cette \u0153uvre t\u00e9moigne de l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat de Bocquet pour les paysages de Lorraine \u00e0 cette p\u00e9riode de sa carri\u00e8re. Comme dans d\u2019autres toiles contemporaines, le peintre y observe la nature dans un moment saisonnier pr\u00e9cis, ici celui du printemps. Les \u00e9tudes r\u00e9alis\u00e9es dans ces r\u00e9gions t\u00e9moignent de cette recherche : elles permettent au peintre d\u2019exp\u00e9rimenter la construction du paysage, l\u2019\u00e9quilibre des masses et les accords de couleurs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2116\" data-end=\"2449\">Cette p\u00e9riode correspond \u00e9galement au moment o\u00f9 l\u2019artiste se d\u00e9tache progressivement de l\u2019influence acad\u00e9mique pour s\u2019orienter vers une approche plus libre et plus sensible du paysage.
