Comme de nombreux jeunes peintres de sa g\u00e9n\u00e9ration, il vient dans la capitale pour se pr\u00e9parer \u00e0 l\u2019entr\u00e9e de l\u2019\u00c9cole des Beaux-Arts et approfondir sa ma\u00eetrise du dessin et de la peinture.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"613\" data-end=\"1072\">Il commence alors \u00e0 fr\u00e9quenter <strong data-start=\"644\" data-end=\"665\">l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie Julian<\/strong>, o\u00f9 il \u00e9tudie pendant plusieurs ann\u00e9es. En parall\u00e8le, il dessine comme \u00e9l\u00e8ve libre \u00e0 l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie des Beaux-Arts, travaille d\u2019apr\u00e8s l\u2019antique et copie les ma\u00eetres au <strong data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"849\">mus\u00e9e du Louvre<\/strong>, exercices indispensables de la formation acad\u00e9mique. Le reste du temps, il partage un atelier avec son compatriote r\u00e9mois et peintre <strong data-start=\"984\" data-end=\"1006\">\u00c9mile-Auguste W\u00e9ry<\/strong>, avec lequel il entretient alors une relation artistique \u00e9troite.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1074\" data-end=\"1313\">Ces ann\u00e9es parisiennes constituent pour Bocquet une p\u00e9riode intense d\u2019apprentissage. Les \u00e9l\u00e8ves apprennent \u00e0 observer le mod\u00e8le vivant, \u00e0 comprendre la structure du corps humain et \u00e0 traduire les volumes par le jeu de la lumi\u00e8re et de l\u2019ombre.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1681\" data-end=\"2110\">Les dessins r\u00e9alis\u00e9s par Bocquet durant cette p\u00e9riode t\u00e9moignent de cette discipline. Le trait y est attentif, la construction solide, r\u00e9v\u00e9lant une recherche constante de justesse dans les proportions et dans le model\u00e9 des formes. Ses cheveux courts tombent l\u00e9g\u00e8rement sur le front ; une moustache et une barbe en pointe commencent \u00e0 appara\u00eetre. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son ami <strong data-start=\"2485\" data-end=\"2501\">Henri Gentil<\/strong>, Bocquet est introduit aux <strong data-start=\"2529\" data-end=\"2557\">\u00ab Samedis de l\u2019Imagier \u00bb<\/strong>, rue de Rennes, o\u00f9 se r\u00e9unissent artistes, \u00e9crivains et illustrateurs autour des fr\u00e8res Andr\u00e9 et Jacques des Gachons.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2677\" data-end=\"3003\">Il y rencontre notamment le peintre et musicien <strong data-start=\"2725\" data-end=\"2748\">L\u00e9once de Jonci\u00e8res<\/strong> et le peintre mariniste <strong data-start=\"2773\" data-end=\"2795\">Richard Cordingley<\/strong>. Ces cercles artistiques appartiennent au climat intellectuel de la fin du XIX\u1d49 si\u00e8cle, marqu\u00e9 par l\u2019influence des revues litt\u00e9raires et artistiques comme <strong data-start=\"2951\" data-end=\"2963\">La Plume<\/strong> et par certaines tendances symbolistes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3005\" data-end=\"3233\">Peu \u00e0 peu, Bocquet s\u2019\u00e9loigne de l\u2019influence de W\u00e9ry et prend son ind\u00e9pendance artistique. Il installe son propre atelier <strong data-start=\"3126\" data-end=\"3151\">rue Campagne-Premi\u00e8re<\/strong>, au c\u0153ur du quartier de Montparnasse, o\u00f9 il poursuit ses recherches personnelles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"not-prose mt-0! mb-0! flex-auto truncate\">\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_3&#8243; Il commen\u00e7ait bient\u00f4t \u00e0 suivre les cours de l'Acad\u00e9mie Julian, qu'il fr\u00e9quenta durant trois ans. Il allait, comme \u00e9l\u00e8ve libre, dessiner d'apr\u00e8s l'antique \u00e0 l'Acad\u00e9mie des Beaux-Arts. Il copiait les ma\u00eetres au Mus\u00e9e du Louvre. Le reste du temps, il travaillait pr\u00e8s de son condisciple r\u00e9mois et peintre Emile W\u00e9ry, dans un atelier commun.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"align\":\"justify\",\"fontSize\":\"extra-small\"} -->\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-extra-small-font-size\">D'aimables relations agr\u00e9mentaient son labeur : par Henri Gentil, il fut admis aux \"Samedis de l'Imagier\", Rue de Rennes, chez les fr\u00e8res des Gachons, l'un Andr\u00e9, enlumineur, l'autre Jacques, romancier. Il se lia avec eux et leurs h\u00f4tes, notamment le mariniste Richard Cordingley et le peintre et musicien L\u00e9once de Jonci\u00e8res. C'\u00e9tait l'\u00e9poque de la \u00ab Plume \u00bb, du m\u00e9di\u00e9valisme Rose-Croix. De ces deux artistes, nous avons trouv\u00e9 des dessins et des aquarelles, et en particulier de Ricard Cordingley. Ce portrait de Paul Bocquet \u00e0 la mine de plomb, dat\u00e9 de 1891 montre l'\u00e9tudiant assis sur une chaise, la figure de face avec des cheveux courts, bas sur le front, petite moustache et barbe en pointe qui s'\u00e9bauchent, l'expression est juv\u00e9nile et vivante.
